The game itself (remaster), isn't bad, but it has problems. Not only doesn't the eye symbol stand out, the eye symbol is also only partially in the icon.Īlso, I assume that the lack of tooltips in the overlay menu is not final. It is actually the eye symbol, but it's bleak blue eye on some brown or grey background. At this point the original text items were better to navigate through then spending several seconds on icon decryption.įor example for religious building/overlay, I'd expect the ankh symbol or the eye symbol. Most of them are washed-out combinations of blue and brown and at first glance the player cannot find what they are looking for. Few of them stick out - like the fires icon for hazards - but I think that ALL icons should stick out. I applaud the decision to change text items into icons, but the icons are so bland. And something that can be changed (unlike the graphics). If it was my decision I'd include the orignal tracks as well, but the new ones are fine replacement. I miss the original tracks but the new tracks are close enough to evoke the "Pharaoh mood". And I still don't like the art direction with the comically large heads and wonky walking animation. I liked everything (graphics-wise) right from the beginning except for the walkers. I think I'm this frustrated because of how much I wanted to just outright love it like I did when Two Point Hospital came out, because my other favourite game growing up was Theme Hospital.Īfter playing the demo some more I found myself enjoying it more and more. I would be happy too if you could pick, cuz you could make the old one collapse or expand, so you had the choice - but there's no choice on this one at the moment. I really want to like it, and I'm willing to keep checking it out as it goes to release. I just can't get past the user interface personally, it affects the gameplay too much for me. Honestly, I could get past most of the things I'm iffy on. It essentially overwrites the magic of the old game, that is not really good. If nobody asked for these changes, why have them in the first place? At least give us an option to use older graphics & UI but still utilizing bug fixes, and QoL & resolution enhancements. The fact that they dropped so much, means those parts were lacking, I don't agree, most fans don't agree.
